Wainui Beach, end of the Abel Tasman Track (New Zealand)

Once again I will say that New Zealand is definitely about landscapes. The most characteristics images one can have in mind are huge green meadows with sheep, fjords, snowy peaks, reflective lakes, stunning blue horizons on the coastline… Yet, I did not expect at all to be amazed by the work of the tide, especially the beauty of the forms it creates. Nelson

Just landed in South Island, I head straight away to Nelson with the hope to find the Victorian houses and artsy atmosphere so well described in my guide book. Being European, I am starting to miss the cultural background that you can feel almost anywhere in the old continent. I would like to walk in a city without seeing modern buildings and fast foods at every corner. So far, Nelson seems to meet my expectations. (more…)
