I am about to take the road again. In one week I will be in Thailand and in one month in New Zealand. Departures mark new steps in life, they are the beginning of the exploration of "the unknown". Today I was wondering what this new trip will bring me. As I was wandering into my imagination, my mind took me back to my previous adventures. Instead of trying to imagine in vain the future, I started to ask to myself: what did your last travel bring you? Good question.

There are some places where you always feel like going back, even before you have left them. This is the case of Varanasi. I spent 10 days in the holy city. This is enough to get impregnated by its indescribable atmosphere but not enough to learn one of the various cultural disciplines this city offers. When you speak with people in Varanasi, it seems that everyone has a "guru" teaching them something of the Indian culture.

Yesterday we had an unforgettable boat trip on the Ganga in the early morning. We woke up at 5 am (again!!) and headed directly to the ghats to negociate a boat excursion with a mallah. We accepted the offer of Gopi, which boat is located in Jain Ghat. During this journey, we did not only discover the beauty of Varanasi from the river side but also the representative life of an Indian man that I will introduce here.

It has been exactly one month since we arrived in India. I have just realized that almost every day we had the possibility to attend a religious festival or celebration. So many things are holy in this country and the indian people are the most fervent devotees ever. Our western brains (and especially the French [...]
